Vietnam affirms sovereignty over Spratly, Paracel archipelagos
(VOVWORLD) - During a regular press briefing on Thursday, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Le Thi Thu Hang, answered reporters’ questions about patrols by US warships and recent military drills in the East Sea.

“We affirm Vietnam’s sovereignty on Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Ha (Paracel) archipelagos. As a member of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and a country by the East Sea, Vietnam respects the freedom of navigation and aviation in accordance with the Convention. Vietnam calls on countries to contribute to maintaining peace, stability, respect and to comply with international maritime laws.” Mr. Hang said.
