(VOVworld) – The Vietnam Air and Air Defense Force on Tuesday marked the 50th anniversary of its first victory on August 5th, 1964.
Senior lieutenant-general Ngo Xuan Lich, Chief of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA)addresses at the celebration.

At a celebration in Hanoi, generations of the service’s soldiers reviewed heroic memories in the force’s first triumph against US Naval Force 50 years ago. Lieutenant-general Phuong Minh Hoa, the commander of the Vietnam Air and Air Defense Force, says:
“The victory gave us many valuable lessons on the need to heighten vigilance and be ready for combat. Other lessons included developing determination to gain victory, upholding the national political strength, building an air defense as part of the people’s war under the leadership of the Party toward bringing into full play the strength of the air force with the Air and Air Defense Force as the core.”
