Vietnam all set for 2nd DPRK-US summit
(VOVWORLD) - Hanoi is ready in both security and logistics for the 2nd summit between US President Donald Trump and DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un, said Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung on Monday.
Mr. Trung told foreign reporters that the summit, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, is a top international event this year.
“The hosting of the summit demonstrates Vietnam’s peaceful foreign policy and willingness to be an active member of the international community. Through the meeting, Vietnam wants to contribute to dialogue and settlement of international disputes by peaceful means and improve Vietnam’s and ASEAN’s role in the global arena,” he noted.
Deputy Minister Trung said that both the US and the DPRK have applauded Vietnam’s preparations for the summit, particularly in security. Regarding communications, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said Vietnam will create the best conditions for the media.
“Nearly 3,000 foreign reporters and 550 Vietnamese reporters have registered to cover the summit. In addition to wifi services, more than thirty 2G, 3G and 4G transmitters have been installed in the International Media Center. Other facilities have also been in place to ensure live satellite broadcast,” said Minister Hung.
