Vietnam and donors community holds 11th anti-corruption dialogue

(VOVworld)-The 11th anti-corruption dialogue opened Thursday in Hanoi themed “Anti-Corruption at the Local Level – Current Practices and Solutions”. The event was jointly organized by the British embassy, the Government Inspectorate, and the Office of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption. Participants discussed localities’ efforts and challenges to the fight against corruption. Several anti-corruption models were presented, from which Vietnam and its development partners drew resolutions to prevent corruption at the local level. This is the first time corruption at local level was selected as a topic for discussion. Delegates called for consistent policy from central to grassroots level and more participation by civil social and the media in the fight against corruption.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said corruption has become a global challenge with more complicated forms. "Combating corruption is a long struggle which requires cooperation of all nations. In this forum, the Vietnamese administration at all levels and ministries renew its political determination to prevent and fight corruption with stronger activities. The Vietnamese government will boost cooperation with nations and international organizations to share information and technical support and offer judicial assistance on crimes and property confiscation. The dialogue on anti-corruption between the Vietnamese government and donors has been an effective communication channel to reinforce international technical support for Vietnam’s anti-corruption."
