Vietnam asserts its role in protecting intangible cultural heritage
(VOVWORLD) - Christian Manhart, UNESCO representative in Vietnam, highlighted Vietnam’s role in protecting intangible cultural heritage during an interview with the Vietnam News Agency after Vietnam was elected to the Intergovernmental Committee of the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage until 2026.

Vietnam received 120 votes – more than any other country - during the ninth session of the Convention’s General Assembly in Paris last Wednesday. Vietnam previously served on the Committee from 2006 to 2010.
Vietnam has been one of the most active members of UNESCO and is always ready to assume responsibility in today’s international complexities, Manhart said.
Vietnam can provide leadership and advice to other countries around the world in safeguarding intangible heritages, according to Manhart, who said he believes Vietnam will be effective in protecting living heritage around the world.
