Vietnam, Australia hold 15th round of human rights dialogue

(VOVWORLD) - The 15th round of the annual dialogue on human rights between Vietnam and Australia took place in Hanoi on Tuesday in the spirit of frankness, constructiveness and mutual respect. 

Highly valuing the development of the Vietnam – Australia strategic partnership, they shared information on achievements, difficulties and challenges in promoting and ensuring human rights, discussed human rights issues of common concern, focusing on law-governed State and legal reform, ensuring basic freedom rights and rights of the vulnerable groups. Both sides explored measures to reinforce collaboration within the bilateral framework and at multilateral forums. The Vietnamese delegation expressed interest in Australia’s challenges in ensuring human rights such as rights of the aboriginals and children, as well as balance between security demand and anti-terrorism activities.

The two sides pledged to continue discussing issues of interest to narrow differences, thus raising mutual understanding and deepening bilateral strategic partnership.
