Vietnam calls for dialogues, reconciliation in Sudan

(VOVWORLD) - The UN Security Council member countries acknowledged progresses in Sudan over recent days, especially an agreement reached on November 21, 2021, heard a regular meeting of the UNSC on Friday on activities of the 1591 Committee concerning Sudan.

They called on related parties in Sudan to refrain from using force, soon resuming the Constitution order and fully respecting the 2019 Constitution, the 2020 Juba Peace Agreement, while ensuring the people’s safety.

At the meeting, Pham Hai Anh, Charge D'Affaires ad interim of Vietnam to the UN, also acknowledged recent efforts to stabilize the situation in Sudan. He called on related parties to continue to restrain, avoid violence that could escalate tensions while promoting dialogues and reconciliation to push ahead the transitional process in Sudan in accordance with the 2019 Constitution. He also called for the protection of civilians in Sudan.
