Vietnam calls on relevant parties in Egypt to calm

(VOVworld) – Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Luong Thanh Nghi, on Thursday spoke to reporters about Vietnam’s views towards escalating violence in Egypt: "Vietnam expresses its deep concern over escalating violence in Egypt, which is harming its population. We call on all relevant parties in Egypt to restraint and not let violence to spread, to resolve differences through peaceful dialogue to stabilize the situation."

Regarding the safety of Vietnamese people living, studying, and working in Egypt, Mr. Nghi affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy there is operating normally. Vietnam has closely followed the situation in order to have measures in place to guarantee the safety of Vietnamese citizens and diplomatic staff.

Commenting on the US Department of Commerce’s decision to impose anti-dumping tariff on Vietnamese shrimps, Nghi said local shrimp farms are operating in line with market mechanism for many years without any government subsidies. He hoped that the US Trade Committee will issue objective and fair decision to uphold free trade spirit and fine developments in Vietnam – US economic relations.
