(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Ngyen Tan Dung and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen co-chaired the 4^th meeting on Vietnam-Cambodia investment cooperation. Dung expressed his hope that enterprises from both countries would work together to increase two-way trade to 5 billion USD by 2015. He called on Vietnamese businesses to become among the most effective and responsible investors in Cambodia. Prime Minister Dung said: “The Vietnamese government appreciates Cambodia’s policies of valuing cooperative ties with Vietnam and creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in Cambodia. The Vietnamese government will do its utmost to develop the friendship, neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. These efforts will make active contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development regionally and globally”.

Prime Minister Hun Sen praised Vietnamese investment for what he said helping develop Cambodia. He asked Vietnamese enterprises to focus their investment in the processing of food and agricultural produce. Hun Sen expressed his hope that the Vietnamese government continues to support Cambodia by strengthening its investment cooperation.

Both Prime Ministers witnessed the handing of an investment license to Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company Vinamilk, who will build a 23 million USD milk processing factory in Cambodia. The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam BIDV also signed a memorandum of understanding with Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports on BIDV’s provision of 50 scholarships to Cambodian students in Vietnam. 

Previously, Prime Minister Dung and his host Hun Sen cut the red ribbon, inaugurating the Cho Ray-Phnom Penh hospital in Cambodia’s capital. Dung addressed the ceremony: “The hospital is the first health care project in our investment cooperation, which the Cambodians are very keen on. This is also a success of cooperation between Ho Chi Minh city and Phnom Penh city. The hospital will provide full polyclinic services to meet the maximum demands of the Cambodians and the Phnom Penh residents in particular”.

The hospital got off the ground in May 2010 at an initial cost of 40 million USD. It has 200 beds in the first phase, and will have 300 more in the second phase.
