This has been the first time that Nam, who represents the Vietnamese amateur cyclists, competed in an Asian tournament and he clinched Vietnam's first gold medal in this tournament.

Nam and other cyclists from the Vietnamese team had to borrow bicycles and equipment from the host country after their bikes and equipment were destroyed in a fire on the road to the competition venue on February 5.

As part of the Union Cyclist International (UCI) calendar, the 2025 Asian Road Cycling Championships running from February 7 to 16 features nearly 500 top cyclists from across Asia.
