Vietnam closely monitors Vietnamese people’s situation in Sri Lanka: FM deputy spokesperson

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Embassy in Sri Lanka has closely followed local situation and asked Sri Lankan authorities to ensure the safety and security of Vietnamese citizens.

During a press briefing on Thursday, Deputy Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang quoted the Embassy’s statistics as saying that there were some 300 Vietnamese living in the country earlier but many of them have returned to home country. Local Vietnamese people's life was affected due to shortages of gas, electricity, fuel and price inflation. The Embassy has supported and presented gifts to encourage them overcome challenges and maintained a telephone hotline while planning other supportive measures if possible.
