Vietnam commits to international cooperation in managing water resource

(VOVworld) – Vietnam has always attached importance to and been committed to international cooperation in managing water resources for sustainable development, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh at a workshop of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) members in Ben Tre province on Thursday, as they discussed measures to intensify coordination in water resource management.

Minh said the international community would fulfill the millennium development goals and complete the building of the Post-2015 Development Agenda in this field.
He added international cooperation would help Vietnam successfully implement its sustainable development strategy between the period 2011 to 2020 and its national strategy on water resources toward 2020.
The Deputy Prime Minister asked for the sharing of further experiences, sample models and for proposals on suitable policies for the sustainable development of water resources.
