Vietnam commits to promoting human rights

(VOVworld) – Vietnam, as a responsible member of the UN Human Rights Council, will work closely with all partners to ensure and promote human rights all over the world.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, made the affirmation during the 3rd Committee of the 69th Session of the General Assembly on Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in New York on Thursday.

Nga also introduced Vietnam’s policies and achievements in guaranteeing human rights and highlighting Vietnam’s respect for cooperation and dialogues.

She said peace, stability, and development remain the strong aspirations and goals of the international community, which lay the foundations for the protection and promotion of human rights. She underlined the UN’s central role in furthering cooperation among countries in the field, affirming that the Human Rights Council, with its Universal Periodic Review, has proven to be essential in facilitating dialogue and cooperation among member states on human rights issues and ensuring all social, economic, cultural, civil, and political rights.

She called for more technical assistance and capacity building to assist all countries to ensure human rights for their people.
