Vietnam completes UNSC non-permanent member term

(VOVWORLD) - A lowering ceremony of the national flags of 5 countries of the non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term was held on Friday at the UN Headquarters in New York. The 5 countries are Estonia, Niger, Saint Vincents & the Grenadines, Tunisia and Vietnam.

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, said Vietnam has implemented its commitments to promoting and complying with the UN Charter and multilateralism in all UNSC activities.

Vietnam has advocated a people-centred approach in seeking sustainable and satisfactory solutions to settle global disputes and promote humanitarian policies towards vulnerable groups, he said.

Ambassador Quy noted that Vietnam has collaborated with other UN members to fulfil all its goals during the tenure. Vietnam’s motto is to promote objectivity, transparency, and unity of the UNSC and the legitimate interests of relevant parties.
