Addressing attendees at the event, Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, said that over the past 11 years Vietnam had dispatched 1,300 officers and service members from the People’s Army and Public Security forces to UN peacekeeping operations, earning international recognition and appreciation.

Mr. Chien who is head of the Ministry of National Defense's steering committee for the participation in UN peacekeeping operations, urged the Level-2 field hospital and engineering unit to continue upholding solidarity and international spirit, successfully fulfill the tasks entrusted by the Party, State, army and people and meet the higher requirements of the UN.

As Vietnam’s peace envoys, the soldiers must strictly pursue the Party’s and President Ho Chi Minh’s principle: helping friends is helping ourselves, thereby helping promote the image of a peace-loving Vietnam and its people worldwide, he said.

This deployment will involve 63 personnel from Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 7 and 184 others from Engineering Unit Rotation 4.
