Vietnam effectively implements international treaties on climate change

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has fully observed its duties as a party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Kyoto Protocol, Paris Agreement, the Vienna Convention, the Montreal Protocol, and related amendments, said Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Le Cong Thanh.

He made the remarks at a meeting held in Hanoi on Wednesday to review Vietnam’s implementation of international treaties on combating climate change. Thanh added that Vietnam has also actively participated in international negotiations on climate change and engaged with the international community on mitigating climate change and protecting the ozone layer. Vietnam is upgrading and completing policies, programs and projects on combating climate change.

Within the framework of the Vietnam-Netherlands agreement on climate change adaptation and water management, both sides have established a bilateral cooperative mechanism, paving ways for more exchanges and cooperation between state agencies, research institutes, and the business communities of both countries on the basis of sharing common concerns.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment proposed  policies and  preparatory measures to implement international commitments and take urgent actions to deal with climate change in Vietnam in the future.
