At the UN Ocean Conference in New York on Wednesday, Quy said Vietnam fully supports the sustainable development goal to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources. Quy said that since there are numerous areas of disputed water in the world, compliance with UNCLOS is needed to ensure maritime security and safety and create a peaceful marine environment. He highlighted the importance of raising public awareness of the need to conserve and sustainably use oceans, seas, and marine resources.

Vietnam has integrated the SDGs into its national development plans and strategies. It has enacted a National Action Plan to realize the agenda.
