At a reception for Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in Hanoi on Tuesday, Mr. Phuc stressed that Vietnam and Indonesia are major trade partners of each other. He praised the positive growth of two-way trade over the past time, at 6.5 percent during 2012-2016 and 16 percent in 2017 to hit 6.5 billion USD. The Vietnamese Prime Minister urges the two countries to strengthen cooperation in various areas.

Mr. Phuc said that Vietnam is pushing the improvement of the domestic business environment, urging Indonesian investors to expand their operation in the country.

Minister Marsudi called on the two countries’ leaders to maintain the exchange of visits in order to step up bilateral cooperation across fields and create the best possible conditions for businesses to cooperate with each other.

The two shared the view that the fruitful collaboration between Vietnam and Indonesia will contribute to consolidating and promoting cooperation and solidarity within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to which both countries are members.
