Vietnam, India boost multi-faceted cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is an important pillar in India’s Act East Policy and relations with ASEAN, especially with Vietnam serving as Chair of ASEAN in 2020 and non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2020-2021.

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind made the statement at a meeting with Vietnam’s Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh in New Delhi on Thursday. The leaders agreed to maintain the frequency of high-level exchanges and cooperative mechanisms between the two countries. They also agreed to accelerate the implementation of non-refundable aid and preferential credit packages for Vietnam, and facilitate new aviation routes linking Vietnam and India.

They instructed agencies to continue talks to remove obstacles to trade and investment towards the goal of reaching 15 billion USD in trade value this year. The two agreed to continue their close coordination and mutual support at international forums to finalize a Code of Conduct in the East Sea that ensures the interests of all concerned parties.
