Vietnam, India hold strategic dialogue

(VOVWORLD) -The 10th political consultation and 7th strategic dialogue at the deputy foreign ministerial level between Vietnam and India concluded in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Under the co-chair of Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy and Secretary of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Preeti Saran, the 2-day event agreed to maintain all-level delegation exchanges and promote people-to-people exchanges. Both sides set out measures for economic and trade cooperation to achieve the 15 billion USD trade goal by 2020. Deputy Foreign Minister Quy said Vietnam, as the coordinator of ASEAN-India relations in the 2015-2018 period is willing to link India with other ASEAN members and boost comprehensive cooperation with the bloc.  The two sides pledged to closely coordinating and supporting each other in multilateral forums, like the UN. Mr. Quy applauded India’s stance on recent East Sea issues, saying Vietnam is ready to work with India and other ASEAN countries to promote maritime security cooperation at regional forums.  Both sides agreed to organize the next political consultation and strategic dialogue in Vietnam in 2019.
