Vietnam, India vow to strengthen marine scientific research, connectivity

(VOVWORLD) - Senior officials of Vietnam and India discussed ways to sustain a secure maritime environment conducive to inclusive growth at the third Maritime Security Dialogue in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Both sides pledged to further strengthen their shared efforts and existing frameworks in areas such as marine scientific research, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), maritime connectivity and maritime security, including Navy and Coast Guard cooperation, maritime law enforcement, and capacity building.

Launched in Hanoi in 2019, the second India-Vietnam Maritime Security Dialogue was held online in April 2021.

In May, the Prime Ministers of Vietnam and India held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, where they discussed defense and other aspects of their partnership.
