Vietnam, Indonesia enhance cooperation in COVID-19 response

The two leaders stressed the need to strengthen cooperation and share experience in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and accessing COVID-19 vaccines.

They agreed to boost economic and trade relations, increase exchanges, and enhance the 2019-2023 Action Program to realize the Strategic Partnership and Vision on Bilateral Defense Cooperation in the 2017-2022 period.

They pledged to instruct relevant agencies to achieve bilateral trade of 10 billion USD, reduce trade barriers, and create favorable conditions for trade and investment exchanges. Vietnam and Indonesia will promote talks on delineation of overlapping economic zones, and settle arising problems in a strategic and friendly manner.

The two leaders discussed the East Sea issue, the situation in Myanmar, and agreed to work closely at regional and global forums.

President Phuc congratulated Indonesia for its G20 Presidency in 2022 and expressed his belief that Indonesia will promote and ensure the central role of ASEAN and integrate ASEAN’s  priorities in G20 Agenda.
