Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said the ratification of the two agreements by the European Parliament and the Vietnamese National Assembly reflect the two sides’ desire to expand cooperation and the Vietnam-EU  partnership after 30 years of ties. Mr. Son asked relevant Vietnam and EU agencies to work to make the deal beneficial to their people and enterprises. He urged EU members to ratify the EVIPA as soon as possible.

EU Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti said the ratification of the two agreements marked a milestone and creates important frameworks for both sides to boost trade, investment and cooperation. The EU will work closely with Vietnam to effectively implement the EVFTA and urge EU members to adopt the EVIPA.
