Vietnam, Jordan boost economic, investment ties

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Jordan share many similarities and great potential for cooperation across multiple fields, especially in economics, trade, and investment.

This message was underscored during a meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan in Hanoi on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Chinh said that Vietnam welcomes investment from major Jordanian corporations, and called on businesses from both countries to explore joint ventures and investment opportunities, particularly in infrastructure development, the green and digital economies, telecommunications, manufacturing, and agricultural processing. He suggested fostering connections between the two countries’ startup and innovation ecosystems.

Prime Minister Chinh emphasized the importance of exploring new partnership models in agriculture to enhance efficiency and reduce production costs, such as implementing on-site export projects - a model Vietnam has successfully applied in several countries. He called on Jordan to support Vietnam in developing its Halal industry.

The two leaders also discussed cooperation in education and training, people-to-people exchanges, tourism, healthcare, and legal frameworks.

King Abdullah II said he would instruct relevant Jordanian agencies to consider granting scholarships for Vietnamese students to study Arabic, in response to Prime Minister Chinh’s proposal.
