Vietnam, Laos step up religious cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Ngo Sach Thuc, hosted a reception in Hanoi on Friday for Permanent Vice President of the Lao Buddhist Fellowship Organisation, Most Venerable Veth Masenay.

Mr. Thuc said the VFF is promoting a campaign calling on the public to stay united in building new-style rural and civilised urban areas, urging religions to engage in environmental protection, climate change response and humanitarian programmes. He said the VFF and Laos Front for National Construction, are embarking on effective cooperation programmes which create favourable conditions for the two nations to develop together.

Most Venerable Veth Masenay said since 2005, the Buddhist Sanghas of Vietnam and Laos have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to boost bilateral ties, and hoped that they would conduct practical activities to reinforce bonds.
