Vietnam, Laos strengthen ties

The Lao leader expressed his condolences to the Vietnamese Party, State and people for the death of former Party leader Le Kha Phieu and said he believes that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnamese people will continue to gain more achievements. The Lao leader praised Vietnam’s efforts and experience in fighting COVID-19 and urged the two countries to increase cooperation in disease prevention and control.

The Vietnamese leader praised Laos’ cooperation within ASEAN and in bilateral cooperation. Mr. Trong said the two countries should work closely to defeat the disease, stabilize the situation, and boost socio-economic growth in their respective countries.

They highlighted the outcomes of bilateral cooperation agreements and pledged to enhance cooperation bilaterally and multilaterally, coordinate with Cambodia  on the development triangle between the three countries, and cooperate with other countries in sustainable use and management of Mekong water resources for sustainable regional development.
