(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet on Friday applauded the exchange and coordination between Vietnam and the US at the United Nations Human Rights Council and suggested that the US actively support Vietnam's initiatives and priorities at the Council.

The Deputy FM received the Michele Taylor, US Ambassador to the UN Human Rights Council in Hanoi. He affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to actively consider cooperation proposals of countries, including the US, in the spirit of "mutual respect, dialogue and cooperation, ensuring human rights for all".
Ambassador Taylor said Vietnam has always been one of the important partners of the US, agreeing that their Comprehensive Partnership is flourishing. She expressed her wish to contribute to promoting bilateral cooperation, including at multilateral forums such as the UN Human Rights Council.
On October 11, 2022, Vietnam was elected as a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2023-2025 and assumed the position on January 1, 2023. Vietnam has been elected twice to the UN Human Rights Council after its previous term from 2014 to 2016.
