Vietnam makes positive contribution to the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM)
(VOVWORLD) - March 1 marks ASEM Day, which celebrates the importance of connecting the two continents of Asia and Europe, based on the principles of equal partnership and mutual respect. Vietnam has made positive and active contributions to the cooperative framework over its 2 decades of membership.

At a press conference in Hanoi on Thursday, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said this has uplifted the forum’s position and role: “Vietnam always respects and prioritizes joint efforts to promote Asia – Europe cooperation and their connectivity through the ASEAN Community, cooperative and partnership frameworks bilaterally and multilaterally. In its active multilateral foreign policy and international integration, Vietnam will continue its cooperation with member countries for a responsible and adaptive ASEM.”
Vietnam has initiated 23 programs and is a co-founder of 27 other initiatives in culture, healthcare, education, food security, climate change, science and technology, tourism, economics, green growth, and social security. It has pioneered regular cooperation in natural disaster preparedness and the ASEM dialogue in sustainable development of water resource management and upgrading the Mekong Sub-region cooperation to the regional level.
