Vietnam, Myanmar aim to raise bilateral trade to 1 billion USD

(VOVWORLD) - President Tran Dai Quang Thursday held a reception for Myanmar’s State Counsellor Aung San SuuKyi, who is attending the World Economic Forum on ASEAN in Hanoi.

Mr. Quang suggested both countries continue to maintain delegation exchanges at all levels and the operation of cooperative mechanisms, the early signing a plan of actions to realise the bilateral comprehensive cooperative partnership for 2018-2023, and work to raise bilateral trade to 1 billion USD as soon as possible. 

He proposed the two sides accelerate the signing of cooperative agreements in agriculture-fisheries, transport, justice and crime prevention and control. Mr. Quang expected the Myanmar government to offer favourable conditions for the Vietnamese businesses to invest in Myanmar.

State Counsellor Aung San SuuKyi affirmed that Myanmar hopes to increase economic cooperation with Vietnam along with ties in education, tourism, cultural and youth exchange. She expressed her hope to welcome President Tran Dai Quang to Myanmar in the future.
