The nomination was made at the eighth meeting of OECD’s Southeast Asian Country Program Coordinating Committee on Thursday.

Vietnam is the third country in Southeast Asia to hold the position of SEARP Co-Chair, after Indonesia and Thailand. Taking on this position is an important opportunity for Vietnam to promote the shared concerns, integrate its development priorities in the OECD, and take advantage of OECD’s advice and support for development goals.

The OECD's invitation to Vietnam to take on this position affirms the organization’s recognition of Vietnam's role and position in the region, as well as its contributions to SEARP.

Established in May 2014, the OECD Southeast Asia Regional Program aims to support the region in their domestic priorities, policy reforms and regional integration efforts.
