The Vietnamese delegation, which included officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, were active in discussions aimed at building consensus to reach satisfactory solutions for all parties towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goal No. 14.6 of the UN Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

At the WTO Delegation Head Meeting to end this round of negotiations, the Chairperson of the Negotiating Group on Rules, Ambassador Santiago Wills of Colombia, reported to the WTO members on the work that has been done since January 2021. After the week-long round of negotiations, he reiterated that the members should begin to express their views on an acceptable outcome that can lead to a successful conclusion of negotiations aimed at protecting water resources worldwide.

Swiss Ambassador Didier Chambovey, who was assigned by the Chairman of the Negotiating Group to run the discussions on special and differential treatment, presented a brief report, saying that despite differences, there were elements in common in the members' proposals that could be the basis for consensus.

The next round of negotiations on fisheries subsidies will begin on March 15.
