At a Tuesday’s meeting with IFAD President Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo at the Fund’s headquarters in Rome, Ambassador Hue said that, although Vietnam became ineligible for the Fund’s official development assistance (ODA) in 2018, it still needs help. She said IFAD would help Vietnam obtain soft loans and expand cooperation projects in Vietnam.

Mr. Houngbo said he hopes Vietnam will contribute more to IFAD’s future programs. He said the Fund has been looking for ways to assist countries who have graduated from ODA. He praised Vietnam’s proposal to join the South-South Cooperation, calling for Vietnam’s further contributions to the Fund’s activities.
