The seminar, initiated by the US, the Chair of the UN Security Council in December 2019, was attended by UN Secretary General Anotonio Guterres and representatives of more than 100 countries. At the event, Vietnam shared its experience in promoting cooperation with countries that provided financial, training, facility, and transportation support, countries that also sent missions to South Sudan, and UN agencies in carrying out the level-2 field hospital.

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Vietnam’s Permanent Representative to the UN, said Vietnam intends to develop effective partnership in implementing UN peacekeeping activities. Vietnam began participating in the UN peacekeeping mission in 2014 and has sent 40 officers and observers to South Sudan and Central Africa. The Vietnam Peacekeeping Training Center is one of the four centers in Southeast Asia that meet international standards for peacekeeping training.
