Vietnam pushes for vaccine passport mutual recognition

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry has actively engaged with some 80 partner agencies on vaccine passport mutual recognition.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang told the press on Thursday that an international standard passport template is to be released shortly and agreement in principle has been reached with partners from the US, Japan, Britain, Australia and Belarus. Other partners including the ASEAN, the EU, China and South Korea are waiting for Vietnam’s release of its vaccine passport template as well as e-verification tool. Vietnam has temporarily recognized vaccine passports from 78 countries and territories, enabling their passport holders to reduce quarantine time upon arrival to 7 days as instructed by the Health Ministry. Commenting on the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, the spokeswoman said it’s an international sport event to strengthen friendship exchanges between nations in the world and Vietnam wished all countries would contribute to the event’s success.
