Vietnam ready to send delegation to Britain to assist truck deaths investigation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security is ready to send teams to the UK to work with police in identifying victims believed to be Vietnamese nationals. 39 people were found dead in a refrigerated container truck in the UK last week.

In a phone call on Wednesday with Priti Patel, Home Secretary of the UK, Minister of Public Security To Lam called the matter urgent and promised close co-ordination in the identification process.

Mr. Lam asked that, if there are Vietnamese victims, the UK ensure citizen protection under the laws of the UK and Vietnam in line with international law and practices. He said he hopes the UK will take steps to ensure the security and safety of Vietnamese citizens studying and working in the UK.
