She said education helps disadvantaged groups like women, girls, and the disabled access opportunities for a better life. Education equips them with knowledge, skills and confidence. Vietnam has prioritised education, Anh said, devoting 20% of its State budget to education, and creating many incentives for poor and ethnic minority students. Vietnam has strengthened its international cooperation in education, she noted.

Social inequality is growing between countries and within countries, in terms of income, employment, and access to education, health care, and fresh water, Anh said.
