At a meeting with Slovakia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Robert Kaliňák in Hanoi on Tuesday, General Secretary To Lam praised the outcomes of the talks between Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák and Vietnamese Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang.
Mr. Lam affirmed that defense cooperation, implemented under the 2015 Defense Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding, has yielded positive results and become an important pillar of bilateral ties. He proposed that both sides further strengthen cooperation in defense industry, military training, and peacekeeping operations.
He urged for creating favorable conditions for ministries, sectors, and businesses to connect and expand cooperation, making economy and science–technology key pillars of bilateral relations, while deepening cooperation in culture, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Robert Kaliňák reaffirmed Slovakia’s readiness for broader cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in defense, and expressed hope that the two sides would continue close coordination in international organizations and within ASEAN–EU cooperation frameworks to promote new cooperation initiatives.
