Nguyen Thi Huong, General Director of the General Statistics Office, told Friday’s press conference on socio-economic data in the third quarter and nine months of 2021, that the 1.42% growth is a success given Vietnam’s efforts to both fight the pandemic and maintain production.

The agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased 2.74% from January to September, playing the role of a pedestal of the economy during the pandemic. Meanwhile, the industry and construction sectors posted a growth rate of 6.05%, which is considered the growth momentum, said the General Statistics Office.

The Office predicted that the well-implemented measures to shift the anti-pandemic model and gradual reopening will help growth recover in the remaining months of the year.

With timely response and effective policies, Vietnam's economy in the fourth quarter will prosper and can achieve the highest growth rate of 2021, according to Huong.
