She responded to questions relating to the Taiwan Strait situation following US House Representative Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit.

Hang said: “Vietnam paid due attention and closely followed the situation in the Taiwan Strait. Vietnam believes that peace, stability and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait is of great significance to the region and the world amid the current regional and international complications. Vietnam upholds its consistent stance on ‘One-China policy’ which has been reflected in joint documents issued during high-level visits by leaders of Vietnam and China. Vietnam calls on concerned parties to exercise restraint, not to increase tensions across the Taiwan Strait, and actively contribute to maintaining peace and stability as well as promoting cooperation and development in the region and the rest of the world.”

She added that both the US and China are major powers and important partners of Vietnam adding that relations between the US and China affect peace, stability, and prosperity globally.

She said: “Vietnam hopes that the two countries maintain healthy and stable relations and resolve all disagreements through dialogue in line with international law. Vietnam will continue to promote relations with the US and China on the principles of respecting independence, self-reliance, mutual respect, and mutually beneficial cooperation, in the interest of the people and for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the wider world".
