Vietnam values traditional ties with Belarus

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Belarus should strengthen their economic and trade cooperation, said National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan at Tuesday’s reception in Hanoi for Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus.

Madam Ngan said the Vietnam National Assembly is ready to work with the Belarusian parliament to expand investment and trade.

She said she hopes both sides will continue coordinating at multilateral parliamentary forums, consultation sessions, and legislative experience sharing, and increase the role of their friendship parliamentarian groups.

Mr. Myasnikovich took the occasion to discuss the Vietnam-Belarus cooperation potential with Madam Ngan, stressing the fact that Belarus is among five members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) that have a free trade agreement with Vietnam.

He said increased cooperation between the two legislatures is the key to effective implementation of the pact.
