The tourism sector has been offering promotion packages to lure visitors as it tries to reach the goal of receiving from 15 to 17 million foreign visitors this year.

During the ongoing ASEAN Tourism Forum 2018 in Thailand, Vietnam organizes events, including a “Vietnam Night” program to introduce its tourism potential and ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019 in Quang Ninh province.

Nguyen Van Tuan, director general of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said: “In 2018 the tourism sector will continue to work closely with domestic and foreign airlines to increase the number of flights and set up new routes in key markets, including Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Cat Bi, Hue, and Van Don. Stricter management is needed to ensure security and safety at tourist destinations.”

Last year, Vietnam had nearly 13 million international visitors and 74 million domestic tourists.
