(VOVworld) - The Philippines' National Food Authority (NFA) has approved the import of 200,000 tons of rice from Vietnam. Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade said rice exporters in Vietnam and Thailand submitted bids to supply 500,000 tons of rice to the Philippines. Thailand offered the best price at 475 USD per ton for 300,000 tons while Vietnam quoted 479 USD per ton for 400,000 tons. The NFA auction board decided to buy 300,000 tons of rice from Thailand and invited Vietnam to supply its rice at the same price as Thailand. The rice is expected to be delivered in 2 months beginning mid-October.
