During a media briefing after his talks with visiting Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Mr. Phuc said their talks were successful and based on the spirit of friendship, mutual trust, and consensus on future cooperative directions.

“I would like to inform that in 2016 Prime Minister Hun Sen and I witnessed the signing of an agreement aimed at a two-way trade turnover of 5 billion USD by 2020. This year, the two countries have achieved more than 5 billion USD. This is good news. Tourism is developing strongly with 1 million Vietnamese visiting Cambodia and many investment projects being in place. Vietnam is one of biggest foreign investors in Cambodia. Prime Minister Hun Sen and I also agreed to expand and deepen cooperation in IT, telecom, tourism, aviation, finance, banking, hi-tech agriculture, aquaculture, and healthcare,” PM Phuc told the media.

Prime Minister Hun Sen congratulated Vietnam for its achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vietnam’s non-permanent membership to the UN Security Council in the next 2 years, saying this is an evidence of the world’s support for Vietnam’s efforts in resolving regional and global issues. He said his Vietnam visit has a great historical implication as both sides will sign the first two legal documents recognizing the results of border delineation and marker planting on Saturday.
