Vietnamese Ambassador visits US State of Utah

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Ha Kim Ngoc paid a working visit to Utah State of the US earlier this week.

He met with the leaders of the Utah State administration, businesses, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brigham Young University, and Vietnamese students there. The leaders of the Utah State said they expect to resume exchanges and trade activities with Vietnam, firstly by virtual events. They suggested the possibility of establishing tourism cooperation and opening direct flight between Vietnam and Salt Lake City’s International Airport.

The business community of the Utah State expressed their wish to cooperate with Vietnam on maritime ecological improvement, early detection and warning of ships at sea and major river basins, and establishing a business incubator to connect Utah and Vietnam’s financial and technological companies.

The leaders of Brigham Young University said they welcome more Vietnamese students to study there. Representatives of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints pledged to help Vietnam find COVID-19 vaccine supply.

In an interview with BYU Radio in Provo, Ambassador Ngoc highlighted reconciliation efforts to turn the Vietnam-US relations from foe to friends and partners. He said Vietnam wants peace, independence, self-reliance, and territorial integrity, self-decide its faith and development path, and share its experience on peaceful reconciliation with other countries.
