Vietnamese, Australian ministers discuss trade, investment cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Simon Birmingham on Friday discussed post-COVID-19 cooperation between the two countries. 

Their online talk focused on cooperation to open markets for farm produce, forestry and seafood products, lift barriers for exporters and importers, transfer technology in energy and metallurgy, and jointly develop a strategy on enhanced economic cooperation.

Minister Tuan Anh said: “Following certain achievements in the novel coronavirus prevention, Vietnam and other countries have gradually recovered the economies to the new normal situation. What we should do now is to clarify several directional targets and specific solutions to trade cooperation and economic development.”

Minister Birmingham spoke highly of Vietnam’s results in epidemic control and its measures to rescue businesses and maintain supply chains, especially rice exports.
