(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese automaker VinFast has appointed former executive of Volkswagen Group America, Michael Lohscheller, as CEO of its division VinFast Global.

Lohscheller, who was also former CEO of Opel, will lead VinFast Global to expand in Vietnam, the US, Canada, France, Germany and the Netherlands, aiming to turn VinFast into a global smart electric car company.
Lohscheller has more than 20 years’ experience in the automotive industry.
VinFast is set to launch its first three electric car models this year with plans to sell them in Vietnam, the US and Europe.
The company sold more than 31,000 cars in Vietnam last year.
