Vietnamese goods take large share of domestic market

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade reports that the share of Vietnamese goods remains high in the domestic market - 80-90% of the distribution network and 60% of traditional retail channels.

The figures were released at a conference in Hanoi on Tuesday to review 10 years of implementing the “Vietnamese people prioritize Vietnamese goods” campaign.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said some industries have increased their product localisation and use of technology.

He emphasized future tasks: “To implement the campaign efficiently in the new period, the Ministry will focus on restructuring the industry and trade sector to serve national industrialization, modernization, and sustainable development until 2020 with a vision to 2030. The Ministry will submit to the government a roadmap for developing the domestic market until 2025 with a vision to 2035, which will focus on solutions to promote domestic trade , make the distribution network stronger, and promulgate standards for goods in line with international commitments.”

The conference said the industry and trade sector and members of the Steering Committee of the "Vietnamese people prioritize Vietnamese goods"  Campaign have contributed to domestic market changes. The campaign  has increased Vietnamese consumers’ trust in Vietnamese brands and has benefitted every economic sector.
