Vietnamese, Lao fronts urged to increase ties

(VOVWORLD) - Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong has urged the Vietnamese Fatherland Front and the Lao Front for National Construction, to increase cooperation and mutual assistance to educate peoples of the two countries, especially young people, of their special ties.

The Party leader was speaking at a meeting with Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Saysomphone Phomvihane, in Hanoi on Tuesday. The Lao official promised to work closely with Vietnam to foster bilateral ties in the interests of the two peoples and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

At a meeting with the Lao delegation the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highlighted the growth of the special ties between the two countries over the past years, stressing that the two sides should work closely together to further develop the relationship and combat divisive schemes of hostile forces. He expressed his sympathies over the losses Laos suffered during the collapse of the hydropower dam in Attapeu, underlining that Vietnam has made every effort to help Laos overcome the disaster’s consequences. He stressed the need for the two sides to effectively implement joint statements and high-level agreements.
