Vietnamese Party chief, Cambodian King hold talks in Phnom Penh

The two leaders reviewed the development of bilateral ties over the past five decades and agreed that the partnership, fostered by generations of Vietnamese and Cambodian leaders and people, have overcome obstacles and yielded fruitful outcomes. They agreed to work harder to promote this traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. Party General Secretary Trong wished Cambodia further success in its national development and defense. He stated the growth of Vietnam is closely linked with assistance from international friends, including Cambodia. King Nodorom Sihamoni described the visit of Mr. Trong as a especially important milestone in the good neighborliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia in the context of the two countries celebrating 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties. The Cambodian King vowed to further cement the long-standing friendship with Vietnam.

The same day, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong met Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen. The two leaders discussed ways to boost bilateral ties more effectively and sustainably. Mr. Trong also met with Honorable President of the Cambodian People's Party and National Assembly Speaker Heng Samrin and Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party and Speaker of the Cambodian Upper House Say Chhum.
