Vietnamese people condemn China’s violations in East Sea

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese people have strongly condemned China’s announcement of the establishment of the so-called Xisha and Nansha districts on Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos.

Nguyen Si Trinh, a resident in Ho Chi Minh city, said the establishment of the so-called Sansha city and related actions seriously violated Vietnam’s sovereignty over Truong Sa and Hoang Sa which has been proven with legal foundation and exists in Vietnamese history.

"I protest China’s illegal action which runs counter to international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. This is an action of hegemony and bullying by a big country on a smaller country. The UN and the international community should protest and prevent China’s violation. I demand China withdraw from Vietnam’s Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos," said Trinh.

Nguyen Van Hai in Son La city said China not only violated Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty but also maritime freedom, security, and safety in the region and the world.

"China’s action violated other country’s territorial sovereignty in the East Sea. We really hope that the Vietnamese Party and State will take strong actions to protect national sovereignty in the East Sea," said Hai.
